THE STORY BEHIND THE FILMS

Hi, I’m Mato, a wedding filmmaker documenting love stories across Germany and Europe.

My journey into filmmaking began out of curiosity and a desire to tell stories through images. Without any formal training, I spent countless hours exploring the art of filmmaking, learning through experimentation, and developing an eye for the moments, details, and emotions that often go unnoticed.

Over time, that passion found its way into weddings. What fascinates me about them is not simply the ceremony or the carefully planned details, but everything happening in between. The nervous excitement before walking down the aisle, the laughter shared around a dinner table, the tears during a speech, the chaos on the dance floor, and all those little moments that make a day entirely your own.

I believe weddings are meant to be experienced, not performed. There is no need for forced moments, elaborate setups, or following a formula of how a wedding film should look. I want to capture things as they unfold, allowing the atmosphere, the people, and the emotions to shape the story naturally.

My approach is rooted in documentary filmmaking, with an appreciation for artistic composition, natural light, and the nostalgic feeling of film. I’m drawn to imperfect moments, subtle details, and images that carry a certain atmosphere. Every film is an opportunity to experiment, explore, and find a visual language that feels true to the story being told.

As a solo wedding filmmaker, I approach every celebration with intention and a personal connection to the people in front of my camera. Whether documenting an intimate wedding in Germany or a destination celebration somewhere across Europe, my goal remains the same: to create something honest, personal, and timeless.

Because when you watch your wedding film years from now, I don’t want you to simply remember what happened. I want you to feel as though you’re right back there. To hear the laughter, remember the embraces, recognize the faces, and experience the atmosphere all over again.

A wedding day passes in the blink of an eye. A film gives you a way to return to it.
